Video JSON LD (structured data) is now supported for product

By May 2021, Google recommends adding video JSON LD to pages containing video contents. Video JSON LD (structured data) can help Google to generate rich video results and better parse all videos on your store. For example, Google can generate key moments using videos. It can significantly improve the click-through rate.

If your store includes videos, they can serve as shortcuts to rank higher on the search results.

Today, we have added support for video JSON LD for your product pages. If you’re using the latest version of code snippet (version: 31072021), you can test with the Google Rich Result Test.

If you’re using the older version, you can visit the SPO dashboard. SPO will upload the latest code snippet to your theme automatically.

SPO v2.0 update – support structured data with JSON LD

Hi SPO users, ?

After the last update, I’ve been working on stability and performance improvement. In the meantime, JSON LD (structured data / rich snippets) has been added to generated rich results on Google. We mainly support organization and product schema now.

New

  1. JSON LD has been supported by our latest liquid file. For existing paid users, please enter the product listing page once and SPO will automatically update the liquid file to the latest version
  2. JSON LD will support social media profile links. Your rich search result on Google will include these links
  3. Bulk edit supports editing products under a collection
  4. Added Google PageSpeed testing in Setting

Fixed

  1. Stability and loading speed has been improved in the listing page
  2.  In Setting tab, you can click “Submit Now” button next to Sitemap Submission to notify Google to re-scrape your sitemap. Google will update its index after that.

SPO v1.9 update – Introducing Bulk Edit Product Link Preview

Hi SPO users,

Since some users are requesting bulk edit regularly, I’ve been secretly working on this feature for a month. With bulk edit, you can

  1. input your title and description with a template
  2. select the product image to be used as the link preview image

For more details, please refer to a new tab “Bulk Edit” in SPO.

At the moment, this feature is pretty simple. We are trying to roll out to stores with less than 300 products. If the experiment is successful, we may consider supporting stores with more products. As the feature keeps our server occupied for a long time, it will only be reserved for our paid users under the Basic plan. Otherwise, our server will collapse very soon. If you are interested in more options under bulk edit, feel free to submit a feature request. We’ll consider implementing the most popular options in our future releases.

SPO v1.8 update – Responsiveness Improved

Hi SPO users,

Happy to see you in the new year! Since my last blog post, I’ve been upgrading SPO to make it more stable and responsive. As usual, here is the summary of the changes:

New

  1. Support Page (in-app and via admin link)
  2. TinyMCE html editor has been upgraded. It can support <script> tag. Other shopify apps may put some codes into your product / page content. Our editor can be compatible now.

Improved 

  1. App responsiveness in the listing page. Faster paging.

Fixed 

  1. Keyword search volume may not be able to display occasionally
  2. Review pop up cannot be disabled
  3. Admin link to edit collections & pages. You can directly “jump” from your product, collection, page & blog post detail page to SPO 

New Planning

Currently, we are planning for new done-for-you service packages or features:

  1. Keyword research and product content optimization
  2. Customized blog posts writing to boost SEO and good for social sharing
  3. bulk edit feature for SPO, probably editing link previews (requested by some users)

SPO v1.7 update – Performance Improved

Hi SPO users,

I’ve updated SPO again. This time I am more focused on performance improvement.

Changes:

  1. Collection and blog articles will be loaded on clicking the tab. The original design is loading together with products, store, and other information. In the new loading, page navigation will become faster
    .
  2. Commonly used variables will be loaded on our server instead of fetching from Shopify.
    .
  3. The page navigation at the bottom left-hand side is adjusted

While the changes may be a little technical for you to understand, please let me know if you find any issues or raise any improvements. Some users emailed me to report that the Facebook link preview section was not responsive and the submit button was not working. Unfortunately, I can’t duplicate the issue in my test app. Please let me know what information you inputted if you find the issue. I would be happy to fix it.

At the meantime, I am looking for a new problem to solve in Shopify. Feel free to ping me and I am happy to offer you to be my next forever-free users! 😉

SPO v1.6 update – Support Collections

Dear SPO users,

Thanks for your continuous support for the last 2 years. Some of you may be asking for the support of Collections. I guess you may occasionally want to promote a whole product category instead of a single product. Hope the new feature is useful for your X’mas promotion!

Now, you can optimize your collections just like your products. While we have done basic testing to cover general use cases, it may still have glitches since this change has affected many existing functions. Please let us know if you find any issues. We’ll try to fix them asap.

SPO v1.5 update – Default Options

Dear SPO users,

Thanks for your continuous support. Though we didn’t publish new feature update here for a long time, we’ve been fixing various bugs and adding enhancements at the backstage.

Here are some highlights of SPO changes:

  • New Features
    • In Setting, users can select to use the first or last product image as the default Facebook link preview for all products.
    • Twitter link preview is also supported
  •  Enhancements
    • The Facebook and Twitter link preview of products (the og:image tag) will use the actual image URL if you select “Add image by URL”
  • Bug fixes
    • Some users cannot install our app due to an error message “not in a plan”. The error is fixed
  • Deprecated
    • The campaign feature is deprecated as very few users are interested

Happy New Year, SPO users! I wish all of you’ll have good lucks in 2018.

Thanks for staying with us for the year. We appreciate your opinion whether it’s negative and positive. When there are new support emails coming to my mailbox, I always feel happy because it means our users really care about SPO and we can do better to fix their problems.

Personally, I would like to thank for your support as the Customer Success Officer in 2017 (as you saw in our notification email).

In the coming year, we’re planning what features will help our store owners to get more values from SPO. If we can do a little bit better, our store owners can be beneficial to the little changes we made.

The Findings:

From our user research, we found that:

  1. Store owners care about social sharing of products or the store’s home page
  2. Store owners want to look good when visitors share their online store
  3. Store owners want visitors to generate referral traffics via social sharing.

What’s next?

Currently, we are researching how we can help our store owners in SEO and Social Media Marketing. Most SPO users want more sales and more traffic.

But I would say that there is NO silver bullet.

There is no app that you can install and Boom!… more sales coming in.

What we aim is not making a silver bullet. Instead, we strive to make a painkiller to solve your hair-burning problem. Finally, it can help you to save time and increase efficiency. And you’ll be happy to pay for the solution at a reasonable cost.

Bug Fixes Update v1.4.1: Bugs Appeared with More Products

Dear SPO users,

Thanks for your support to SPO. We have noticed some bugs where there are around 1,000 products in your store.

The bug fixes are listed as below:

  1. The search button is not working when there are around 1,000 products
  2. The next page button of paging is not working when there are around 1,000 products
  3. A hint pop up will be shown in the onboarding process. Users should turn off Adblockers to read the configuration instructions & edit the theme.liquid file.
